RLK & Habeous Korpus Media Group proudly announce the long-awaited re-release of "Hall of Fame, Fortune, & Death," the rare and influential 1999 album from Southeast San Diego rapper/producer Shamen 12, an enigmatic talent in the city’s hip hop legacy.
A founding member of the legendary collective Masters Of The Universe; which counts Orko Eloheim, Odessa Kane and GonjaSufi among its ranks. Shamen 12 carved a unique lane within San Diego’s underground by merging raw lyricism with vivid street perspective. "Hall of Fame, Fortune, & Death" was his second full-length project, following the acclaimed "12 Kommandments," a foundational release in the Masters Of The Universe catalog.
On "Hall of Fame, Fortune, & Death," Shamen 12 matured his sound, blending the gritty aesthetics of Southeast San Diego street life with sharpened wordplay, spiritual melodies and production that balanced raw underground ethos with survival-driven narratives. The album captures the transitional energy of late-’90s San Diego rap, when artistry and reality collided in a city overlooked by the mainstream but rich with innovation.
The project is also historically important for featuring what may be the earliest known collaboration with San Diego rap legend Mitchy Slick, marking a pivotal cultural intersection between two of the city’s most enduring voices. Additional appearances come from fellow Masters Of The Universe members West Kraven and Police. The latter also Shamen 12’s partner, alongside Odessa Kane, in the sub-group Devil Needs An Afro aka DNA, which doubled as a graffiti crew as well as a rap unit.
Originally released in 1999 in extremely limited quantities, "Hall of Fame, Fortune, & Death" has become a rare jewel in San Diego hip hop history, coveted by collectors and revered by longtime fans of the city’s underground movement.
Now, more than two decades later, Red Lotus Klan and Habeous Korpus Media Group are bringing this lost classic back to life with an official re-release, now available on CD. This marks the first time the album will be widely accessible, offering both longtime followers and new generations a chance to experience a crucial chapter in San Diego’s hip hop lineage.
